Ignorance of Apollo-Gaia.org Doomed Paris 2015

Dear Future Generations,

With hind-sight it is obvious that it was totally unrealistic to have expected and hoped that Paris 2015 would produce a meaningful agreement. We are already committed to a temperature rise of 4C (8.2F) when no one has suggested that anything over 2C rise would be safe, Hansen and other have recommended less than a1C rise and under 350 ppm. Less than 0.1% of participants had seen the video (or visited apollo-gaia.org), So they had no idea of the magnitude of the Global Warming problem.

Worse, far worse, the recent US-China agreement stipulated that China's rate of emissions might continue increasing through 2030, and emissions for both countries were expected to continue indefinitely, although at lower rates. It was thus obvious that the leadership of the worst two polluters did not realize that our problem is the LEVEL of atmospheric CO2. Already over 400 ppm, and due to continue rising indefinitely under the US-China agreement.

Countries were asked for INDC (Intended National Determined Contributions) to reductions in the rate of emissions, they were not even asked about withdrawing CO2 from the atmosphere. With hindsight, one wonders how so late in the game, they can have been so hopelessly ignorant!
