We Failed You

Today it was announced that a deal had been struck and all the political leaders congratulated themselves on taking action. That political theater- as you well know- proved to be folly.

Humans have once again shown themselves to be all too human. Greed for things and a familiar lifestyle has condemned you to the degraded life you and your children will suffer. The once vastly diverse and bountiful planet we call home was traded for the hell you now inhabit.

I could tell you of the delicate life that once flourished here only to be destroyed by people unwilling to put your life above our convenience, but that would never do it- or you- justice. All I can ask is that you not damn all of us as some worked very hard to make and be the change necessary, but it proved not to be enough.

Just as the earth has survived the assault of human abuse and negligence to become what you now know as home, it will again- one day- regain its balance in a time well past that of your life. Hopefully, by then humanity will have matured enough to learn to live as part of nature and not as if apart from nature. If humanity exists by then.

Forgive us for our stupidity , but do not forget us. Learn from our mistakes and carry on in love and peace.
