I hope you are ok.

“Socialist forces and rent seekers, masquerading as people concerned with climate change (caused by increasing levels of CO2), have been shutting down proper debate about how to manage and ameliorate changes to our environment.”

Dear Descendants,

I hope you are living well. The early 21st century has been a dark period in world history. Socialist forces and rent seekers, masquerading as people concerned with climate change (caused by increasing levels of CO2), have been shutting down proper debate about how to manage and ameliorate changes to our environment. Billions of dollars are being demanded for subsidies for unreliable renewable energy sources and, at the same time, the use of fossil fuels is being demonized. There are many who would rather 400 million citizens of India lived without electricity than for other countries to provide them with inexpensive coal or gas.

I hope we have managed to blunt the pitchforks of those who defend the religion of climate change and see the only solution as the total elimination of mankind's carbon emissions. I hope we found the wisdom to deal with the challenges that we apparently face (for 18 years there has been no global warming, despite dire predictions). I hope we have managed to avoid destroying our economies on the alter of the warmists' solutions and have managed to have rational and informed discussions about out future.

I'm reminded of Dr John Snow in the 19th Century. At that time there was overwhelming consensus in the medical and scientific community that the cause of the spread of disease was explained by the miasma theory. Snow, through independent thought and research, proved the theory wrong. Unfortunately, his stance brought him condemnation and ridicule from those who believe the science was in on the matter. He persevered and his views were later accepted as correct. As the wonderful Albert Einstein said "If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts". Unfortunately we live in a period where facts seem to be changing a little too often to support popular theories. The Paris Climate Talks will, I expect, achieve about the same result as Kyoto.

Finally, I apologize for my generation if you are cold and hungry and are doing it tough. The leaders of the world failed you. They thought the Emperor had new clothes. My letter to you is sincere and, if you are reading it, must have avoided censure.
